The Danelectro ROE-1 Roebuck Overdrive is built for players who crave that cult-classic, ‘90s-style drive with a bit of attitude baked right in. It takes the spirit of the ultra-rare Ibanez Mostortion and drops it into a rugged metal box with a worn-in, road-ready look that begs to be stomped.

This pedal centers around a metal chassis with a relic-inspired finish, complete with dings on the case and scuffed paint for a naturally broken-in aesthetic. On top, you get a touch-sensitive three-band EQ—Bass, Mid, and Treble—so you can sculpt everything from thick low-end punch to cutting upper presence without losing clarity. A three-way clipping mode switch lets you shift the character of the drive on the fly, while the soft-action footswitch keeps your on/off moves smooth and quiet underfoot.

Because it’s based on that highly sought-after ‘90s Ibanez Mostortion circuit, this one slots right into the “secret weapon” category on a board. It’s designed to respond to your picking dynamics and guitar volume, rewarding players who like to ride the controls and make the pedal feel like part of the amp instead of just another stomp in the chain.

Plugged in, the Roebuck runs the gamut from classic, drive-heavy blues grind to sweet, singing British-style lead tones, all the way out to scooped, aggressive metal textures. The three-band EQ lets you tighten the lows for chugging riffs, push the mids for vocal leads, or carve them out for a more modern, scooped snarl. With the clipping switch and EQ working together, it moves easily between fat, saturated crunch and articulate, hair-raising clarity that stays focused even when you lean into it.
