Rare vintage early 80s transition model SG50 only made for about one year, this one still made and wired as DR504 circuit specs for classic hiwatt 70s tone, even tho it was named "lead 50" to attract heavy rockers, this one has no extra overdrive knobs or gain stages unlike others with the lead name, it is the classic dr504 circuit and tone, no changes in design, they just had spare lead named panels to use up from the biacrown factory going out of biz just before this amp was made, but still using the dr504 circuit. Pure gilmour tone, dr504 is 50W + dr103 100W, otherwise same. Excellent clean condition, new JJ EL34 tubes, very loud pure clean tone monster that goes into great natural overdrive when cranked up more. Perfect pedal platform, never muddy or mushy always defined and classy. Also has rare passive factory fx loop insert jacks (no added circuitry, not in circuit when unused) great for rack effects units post preamp, before power amp. Gets classic 103/504 tones for less since its a rare little known transition model right after biacrown and made same way as they were the importers of biacrown. I have had all eras of Hiwatts this was my favorite and is my last one.

Attached is a pic of Hiwatt founder Dave Reeves (the "DR" in the DR504/103 model name) holding a late 70s /early 80s hiwatt, made same as this one, the very last of the classic 70's early 80s dr504 circuit, build style & tone. Not to be confused with the later 80s lead 50R or 100R with overdrive controls and channel switching leds, made by a totally unrelated company in name only, some years later. The 50R+100 lead overdrive ones were not hiwatt at all in design or sound, they were basically 80s marshall clones made cheap all on one giant circuit board, including the tubes mounted to the boards (not good). This SG50 was made the old hylight+biacrown way with chassis mounted tubes and 2 smaller circuit strips like the one company founder Dave Reeves is holding in the picture. Comes with back plate too (was left off for pictures). Ships UPS ground super packed double boxed in extra large heavy duty boxes and tons of packing.
