Zemaitis was crafted by Tony Zemaitis, an artisan from London.

He originally began his career as a furniture maker, and the skills he acquired there were fully put to use in guitar making.

He began making guitars in earnest around 1965, introducing the “metal front”—a design that has become synonymous with the brand.

Even among those unfamiliar with guitars, many recognize the ST and LP models as iconic designs; it’s not uncommon to hear such people say that, for them, Zemaitis was the very icon of “high-end guitars.”

Despite its one-of-a-kind, distinctive appearance, it has long been embraced and loved not only by various artists but also by audiences.

The model we’ve just received is a Japanese-made version of the iconic “Metal Front” model—one that’s instantly recognizable among Zemaitis guitars.

With its pronounced waist and single-cutaway style, its appearance is reminiscent of an LP-type guitar.

Carrying on the tradition established by Tony Zemaitis, the engraved duralumin shines with exceptional beauty.

Originally intended as a pickguard to reduce noise specific to electric guitars by acting as a shield, this feature serves a practical purpose—it’s not just a flashy aesthetic.

Slightly different from conventional designs, the distinctive “Dragon & Heart” logo—as indicated in the model name—is engraved on the lower part of the body.

The wood specifications include a mahogany body and neck, with an ebony fingerboard featuring binding. The finish is lacquer.

It delivers ample mid-to-low frequencies combined with the high-end clarity and responsiveness unique to ebony, producing a well-balanced yet compelling and powerful tone.

Unlike typical LP-style guitars, it lacks a thick top, and its significantly tapered, slightly smaller body shape makes it exceptionally easy to handle.

Although it has some weight to it, it’s easier to play than the numbers suggest, and with tight lows, it delivers a sound with real presence.

With 24 frets, it’s a reliable choice even for players performing technical pieces in demanding musical settings.

It is equipped with two Dragon Classic pickups, a staple of the Zemaitis lineup.

Although originally designed to achieve a vintage humbucker sound, there’s an anecdote that when the guitar was completed and played, it produced a surprisingly powerful tone.
