✅ Why You’ll Love This Guitar

The larger dreadnought body gives the DE Retro Plus Granadillo a substantial tonal presence, with strong bass response, clear projection, and plenty of headroom for strumming and flatpicking. The granadillo back and sides add a distinctive tonal character, combining warmth and richness with clarity and definition.

This is a guitar that feels unmistakably Martin while offering something a little different from the traditional mahogany and rosewood choices.

✅ Our Expert Opinion

The Martin DE Retro Plus Granadillo is an especially appealing choice for players who want the power and versatility of a full-size Martin dreadnought without moving into a higher-priced series.

Granadillo is an excellent tonewood for this body size, providing a balanced combination of warmth, projection, clarity, and sustain. Paired with a spruce top, it gives the guitar a responsive voice that works equally well for aggressive strumming, flatpicking, singer-songwriter accompaniment, and everyday playing.

At Tobias Music, we especially appreciate guitars that offer this kind of combination of classic Martin character, excellent tonewoods, and real-world value. The DE Retro Plus Granadillo is a guitar that delivers a lot of Martin for the money.
