The BB735A is a great example of why Yamaha’s BB basses have stuck around for so long. It has that familiar BB shape and feel, but the 5-string setup and active electronics give it plenty of range for modern playing.

The Yamaha VSP7n Alnico V split-coil and VSC7b Alnico V single-coil give you a really useful combination of punch and clarity, while the 3-band EQ lets you shape the sound right from the bass. There’s also an active/passive switch, so you can keep things simple when you want to or lean into the onboard EQ when you need more control.

The 5-piece maple/mahogany neck is paired with a rosewood fingerboard and 21 frets, while the alder/maple body gives it the familiar BB look. The Vintage Plus bridge and open-gear tuners keep the hardware straightforward and dependable.
