Here's my personal Yamaha SD-266A Stage Custom 6.5x14" steel snare drum. I've owned and played this drum myself, and it's a great example of why Yamaha's relatively inexpensive steel snares can be such workhorses.

The 6.5x14" 1.2mm steel shell has plenty of crack and projection, but the deeper shell gives it some body and low end as well. The 10-lug design and triple-flanged hoops give it a nice open response and a broad usable tuning range.

I've upgraded the original snare wires with Canopus snare wires, attached with snare string, which I think is a worthwhile improvement to the drum's response and sensitivity.

It's a really solid, good-sounding steel snare that I've enjoyed owning and playing.

There is a noticeable scratch across the Yamaha badge, as pictured. The drum is complete and functioning properly.
