Up for sale, a 1996 Gibson Limited Series 1964 J-160E dreadnought acoustic/electric in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This Limited Series iteration of the J-160E platform was crafted at the Gibson acoustic factory in Bozeman, Montana, featuring a ladder-braced spruce top, mahogany back and sides, a P-90-style pickup mounted between the fretboard and soundhole, and an adjustable saddle. This J-160E was ordered by Gibson's Japanese distributor Yamano; Gibson's USA-made guitars distributed via Yamano are often considered among their best, featuring the highest quality woods picked for Gibson's discerning Japanese audience.

At 5lbs 1oz, this Gibson dreadnought covers a wide sonic range; both acoustic and electric. Strung with 12-53 bronze strings, this Gibson offers a bold, relaxed sound. The lows are warm and punchy, with crisp, cutting highs, offering a tone that is perhaps best described as “Beatle-esque.” Plugged in, the signal is midrange-forward and more electric guitar-sounding than a faithful acoustic approximation, delivering dynamic cleans and pairing very well with a vintage tube amp. This Limited Series 1964 J-160E benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and accurate intonation.
