Headway HD-810 12-string model Momose (Original Headway Vintage!)

【About This item and Sound】
A Rare Find!! An Exceptional Sound!!

The HEADWAY HD-810 was Headway's first 12-string model, introduced in 1981.
Part of Headway's prestigious 800 Series, this guitar was built under the supervision of renowned Japanese master luthier Yasuo Momose, bringing together the finest craftsmanship and techniques of the Headway craftsmen of the time.

This guitar is an exceptionally rare find, and even more remarkably, it remains in excellent condition.

Headway combined some of the finest tonewoods available at the time: solid spruce, rosewood, mahogany, and ebony, together with their advanced construction techniques.
The neck joint, for example, uses Headway's distinctive dovetail construction, providing the strength needed to withstand the considerable string tension of a 12-string guitar.
The original headstock and pickguard designs also give this model a distinctive appearance. They seem to reflect the passion Headway put into creating its very first 12-string guitar.

【SOUND】
The 12-string sound of this guitar, with its premium solid spruce top, is clear, articulate, and beautifully elegant.
It has a naturally musical and almost artistic quality even when simply played acoustically.
With a pick, when the paired strings ring together clearly and evenly, you can fully experience what makes a great 12-string guitar so special.

The quick response of the spruce, the bright and clear character of the rosewood, and the rich low-midrange produced by the dreadnought body and 633 mm scale give the sound remarkable depth and balance. It also performs beautifully with fingerpicking, producing a mellow yet responsive and delicate tone.

This particular guitar has also been fitted with TUSQ (synthetic ivory) bridge pins for the main strings. The TUSQ pins add a little firmness to the tone and improve clarity, creating an excellent balance with the bright and lively sound of the paired strings.
And the case is something special, too!
Finding a hard case large enough for a 12-string guitar is not easy. This one comes with a rare Tokai blue hard case, which is extremely difficult to find on its own.
Even the case itself is a rare vintage item!

It has the rich projection and beautifully cohesive sound characteristic of vintage Headway guitars, while retaining a sparkling, tight character. It is the kind of guitar that makes you want to keep playing it.

【 About "HEADWAY"  】
Headway Co., Ltd. was founded in 1977 in Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan, with renowned Japanese luthier Yasuo Momose at the heart of its guitar production.

In the early days, the guitars were made by a very small team, reportedly as few as three craftsmen. It is also said that Momose himself was responsible for making every neck during this early period.

Headway guitars were regarded as some of the finest instruments made in Japan at the time.
However, in 1983, two fires destroyed the factory and its materials, and production of all acoustic guitars was brought to an end.

Only around 5,000 Headway guitars are believed to have been produced between 1977 and 1983, while the factory was in operation.
That alone gives an idea of just how rare these early Headway guitars have become.
After several decades, this guitar has become a true Japanese vintage instrument.

A rare piece of Headway history, ready to be played and passed on to the next generation.

Rare arrival!

The overall condition of the instrument is very good condition.
There are some traces of past usage and aging, including dents.
