Fender Parts Jazz Bass - 1977 Neck, MJT Body, Competition Lake Placid Blue

Parts Jazz Bass, featuring a 1977 Jazz Bass Neck and a MJT Competition Lake Placid Blue body. Bass weighs in at 8.4 lbs. Pickups are Seymour Duncan Antiquities that read 7.51k B, 7.59N, 3.85k Both. Bass is wired with dual stacked pots ('62 style). This allows for an independent tone and volume control for each pickup. The bottom knob is volume and the top is tone.

Nut width is 39.5mm. Three of the tuners are original. The E tuner is a newer replacement. Neck plate is original to the neck. The pickguard and rest of the hardware is not original to the neck and is newer aftermarket. Neck does not have any current playability issues, but does have a couple flaws of note. First the truss rod is pretty much maxed out. The bass is currently set up with a neck relief of .014" (typical factory relief), so no current playability issues. However, there is very little adjustability left in the neck. The frets have some wear, but it did not affect playability in my opinion. The last issue with the neck is that there is a repaired crack in the fingerboard at the first fret. The inlay is also raised in this area. I could never feel the repair while playing the bass, but it does point to the issues with the front bow of the neck and the maxing of the truss rod. It's possible that this was caused by the truss rod being over tightened in the past.

The bass is a beauty if you like the vintage-e relic look and plays really well in it's current condition. Strung light gauge flat wounds. Comes with a newer Fender softshell case.
