Original vintage Pollard Industries Syndrum dual-function foot pedal/controller, dating from the pioneering first generation of commercially produced electronic drums.
Introduced in the late 1970s, the Pollard Syndrum was developed by drummer Joe Pollard and engineer Mark Barton and became one of the foundational instruments in electronic percussion. The original Syndrum appeared in 1976–77, with updated Single, Twin and Quad configurations following in 1978.
This unusual pedal incorporates two separate foot controls on a single metal base. The large rocker/treadle was used to manipulate the Syndrum's pitch for the dramatic electronic pitch bends and "swoops" that became characteristic of the instrument, while the smaller pedal provided an immediate sound cut-off.
