It faithfully recreates its popular aesthetic while maintaining a commitment to sound quality, resulting in a beautifully finished instrument.

Since the release of the Tokai single-cut model in 1978, the basic manufacturing methods have remained unchanged.

One of the most representative processes is the use of “animal glue” for bonding.

Many similar models use Titebond for joint bonding, and this is sometimes the case even for models costing over 300,000 yen.

At Tokai Gakki, animal glue is used for all models, which allows the guitar’s natural resonance to be maximized.

Furthermore, the joint areas are machined with exceptional precision.

Because each guitar is carefully machined one by one through a process called “mawashi-hiki,” the neck and body will not come apart easily even without adhesive.

Moreover, without this level of precision, bonding with animal glue would be impossible. This finish is a testament to the pride of Japanese artisans.

Guitars of this type have extremely high manufacturing costs; even at long-established domestic workshops, a retail price of 600,000 to 700,000 yen would be considered on the cheaper side. At present, producing them at that price might even be impossible.

Given this context, the fact that these instruments—crafted with a “philosophy of inefficient manufacturing” and with soul poured into every single step of the process—are produced for around 200,000 yen, or even in the 100,000-yen range depending on the model, could even be called a price revolution.

The wood specifications are classic: a mahogany body and neck with a rosewood fingerboard.

Popular artists often use guitars with similar specs, making this model beloved by a very wide audience.

This is the See-Through White color. While it’s neck-and-neck in popularity with Yellow, its production volume is lower than Yellow’s, so there are likely many people seeking it out.

The neck offers a solid grip; although it has a certain thickness, it fits surprisingly well and has a shape that’s very easy to play.

As is typical of single-cut models, playing in the higher frets requires some getting used to, but even so, there are nuances that can only be achieved with this style.
