Good shape - see pictures. Full disclosure: When I got it, the previous owner played with the wiring and the switch wasn't working. I put everything back to spec and the electronics work as expected. Hard to tell if the truss rod was ever adjusted or not but it looks ok to me. There is some hazing in places on the finish if you look closely. It's still perfectly glossy but if you catch the light at the right angle you'll see it in places, like the upper horn. Hard to show in the pictures with the gloss and reflections. It may buff out with some light plastic polish. I tried it on a small area on the back and it worked, but will leave it up to the next owner to do it all or not. I can't find any dings. There is some wear on the pickup from the strings. Zoom in on the body shot, the worst of it from the E string.

This is almost identical the Black & Gold that Cliff played. This one has the gold plated bridge, and the black plastic electronics cover (not the expected gold plated metal one), and Gotoh tuners. Serial number indicates this was made in 1984. If you powder coat the bridge in black you would probably never know the difference between this and a black and gold because the specs are identical. The one strange bit is that the matsumoku.org site only lists white, blue and red colors for 84, not black. Black is listed for 85. I had another 84 that was black, so maybe the catalog is wrong. The finish is original.

Includes a period ISHIBASHI vinyl bag. Regardless of its lineage, it's a cool bass and plays great.
