While Les Paul remains deeply influential as a guitar player, perhaps his greatest legacy will be his contribution to the evolution of electric guitars. By 1951, Les Paul was a respected guitar player, and he was known as a bit of an innovator, too. He had experimented with the solid body electric guitar concept for years, so Gibson president Ted McCarty approached him that year to discuss a collaboration. The result was the Gibson Les Paul Model, which remains one of the most influential and forward-thinking electric designs ever conceived.

When it was original released in 1952, the Les Paul guitar sported two P90 pickups and an eye-catching Gold Top finish. The Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s offers a modern variation on the standard Les Paul model with a gold top and P90 pickups. Built with a stop bar tailpiece, ABR-1 tune-o-matic bridge bridge, and Kluson Deluxe tuning machines, the Les Paul Standard '50s celebrates the best of the original original '50s design. It has a chunky neck profile with a 1.695" nut width.

This 2019 Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s P90 is gently used. It shows some minor signs of play and use, and there is some buckle wear on the back as well as some bumps and dings around the back edge. There are also some scuffs to the edges of the peghead. Look through the photo set; we've tried to capture the worst of it! Thanks to a nice low setup and 10-gauge strings, it plays very nicely and does everything you could want plugged in. It includes its original hardshell case.

This 2019 Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s P90 offers the Gold Top/P90 configuration built to the level of the modern LP Standard. The warm, wooly neck pickup provides great contrast to the stinging bite of the bridge. With the three way switch, volume, and tone controls, you're able to dial in a versatile array of sounds. While Bursts get most of the attention, there is something special about how the touch sensitivity of the P90s pairs with the sustain of the carved top Les Paul construction. Plenty of growl to push your amp into smooth saturation, but roll off on the volume for articulate cleans. A good Goldtop gets it done!
