The RCA Type 77-DX is an iconic, poly-directional vintage ribbon microphone introduced in 1954. Known for its distinct pill-shaped art-deco design, it became the ultimate visual and audio symbol of mid-20th-century broadcasting. It excels on vocals, brass horns, and electric guitar cabinets to tame harsh upper-midranges.

Key Design and Features:

• Multi-Pattern Capability: Uses an internal mechanical rotating metal shutter and acoustic labyrinth to let users switch patterns (unidirectional, omnidirectional, or bidirectional/figure-8).
• Voice/Music Filters: Features a low-frequency adjustment switch at the base with settings for Music (M) for a flat response, and Voice (V1, V2) to roll off low-end proximity effect.
• Ribbon Motor: Employs a ultra-thin corrugated aluminum ribbon suspended in a magnetic field, yielding a warm, smooth top-end and rich character.
