Fender “Made in Japan” guitars are beloved by many people both in Japan and abroad for their meticulous craftsmanship—a hallmark of Japanese manufacturing—and their exceptional sound quality.
The item we’ve just received is the ST68-85TX Stratocaster model, produced during the Fender Japan era.
It is believed to have been manufactured around 1995.
True to the characteristics of the 1968 Stratocaster model on which it is based, it faithfully reproduces features such as the large headstock and a relatively narrow 40mm nut width.
The finish is the popular Vintage White, which has developed a subtle yellowish tint over time, giving it a sophisticated, aged look.

The neck shape features the Oval Type, which offers a relatively slim grip.
It provides a comfortable grip that appeals to a wide range of players regardless of their style, and as a result, it offers a high-quality feel that fits well with modern playing styles.
Furthermore, the fingerboard features an 184R radius, and the frets have been refretted in-house with Jescar #50078, ensuring excellent playability.

The wood configuration combines an alder body, a maple neck, and a maple fingerboard.
This well-balanced combination delivers rich mid-to-low frequencies with a sense of depth, complemented by crisp, lively high frequencies.

It is equipped with a Texas Special (USA) pickup, which is highly popular for its full-bodied sound.
In clean tones, each note is well-defined; you’ll enjoy a robust tone that feels responsive while still delivering a solid sense of depth.
When driven, the sound becomes even fuller and sharper, producing a powerful tone suitable for rock styles.

In terms of condition, there are scratches and dents from age and use, as well as tarnish and rust on parts, peeling plating, cracks and chips in the finish, discoloration, a crack in the back panel, indentations where position marks were once embedded on the sides of the fingerboard, and a strap pin mounting hole on the 1st-string side cutaway.
We refretted the guitar upon arrival, and the truss rod is functioning properly, so it’s in ready-to-play condition that will serve you well for years to come.

This instrument offers excellent playability, a robust tone, and a dignified appearance born of age and use, all of which contribute to its unique character.
