Really good example of this Japanese made artist signature model which is rare outside of Japan.

The spec is tried and tested on stage by Jean Ken Johnny, little known outside of the country.

The guitar has had a full service and set-up with 10s including fret levelling and dressing. Work done by Single Coil in Leeds, tech for Bill Nelson and Richard Hawley amongst others. Plenty left in the frets as can be seen. As ever would recommend a set up to individual requirements but the guitar is playing great with some absolutely stunning tones from the higher output pups compared to a standard Jag. Incredible resonance for a relatively small bodied guitar. Weight is apprx. 3.8 KG so pretty solid!!

The Hipshot drop D Xtender allows for instant changes from standard tuning and also features on the new Fender Jack White Triplecaster Telecaster.

At a glance the guitar could be mistaken for brand new but there are a few very small dings about pea size which are pictured but hard to capture. Ding on the back top of the headstock. Some reflections in the pics.

No trem arm but can easily be obtained from Fender who have provided the part number.

  • Unique, aggressive hybrid tone (P-90 warmth meets high-output humbucker bite) that cuts cleanly through heavy rock mixes. Proprietary, Japanese-manufactured Fender soapbar single-coil pickup - stunning!!!!
  • Practical modern hardware upgrades (Tune-O-Matic, Buzz Stop, and locking/drop tuners) fix traditional offset tuning and string-slippage issues.
  • Simplified, user-friendly control configuration.

"On this guitar's neck position, the P-90 provides a very specific tonal advantage for modern rock:

  • The "Missing Link" Tone: It sits perfectly in the middle ground between a standard single-coil and a humbucker. It has more output, bass thump, and midrange grit than a standard Jaguar pickup, but retains a glassier, more articulate top-end clarity than a humbucker.
  • Exceptional With High Gain: When pushed into overdrive, a neck P-90 doesn't get muddy or "boomy" like a neck humbucker can. It provides a fat, warm "bark" and early edge-of-breakup growl that makes it excellent for heavy rhythm playing and expressive leads.
  • The Pure Rock Contrast: Jean-Ken Johnny chose this setup to get a massive tonal contrast. You can switch from the aggressive, razor-sharp bite of the Seymour Duncan JB bridge humbucker straight to the thick, creamy, yet highly articulated warmth of the neck P-90."
