May Boost PCB - Build your own Fryer Treble Boost pedal!
May Boost is based on the Fryer Treble Boost, a hallmark of Brian May’s Queen tone. Run it hard into a Vox AC30 amp’s normal channel, and you’re on your way to ‘Bohemian Rhapsody ‘ territory. The circuit itself is adapted from the Rangemaster, and offers about 30dB of volume boost.
Since this boost is largely meant to run at full (or near full) volume, the board is designed with a trimpot control, allowing you to ’set-and-forget’ the amount of boost after tweaking it to sound just right with your own amp. Alternatively, you can wire it with an external volume pot if you wish.
