The Yamaha BB735A brings modern flexibility and upgraded electronics to the BB platform in a versatile 5-string configuration designed for players who need extended low-end range without sacrificing articulation, balance, or overall feel. Built around Yamaha’s custom V7 Alnico V pickup system, the BB735A delivers powerful lows, focused mids, and excellent note clarity suited for demanding live performance, studio sessions, and modern bass applications.

Its active/passive electronics system allows players to move quickly between natural passive response and active EQ shaping depending on the musical situation. The active circuit adds additional tonal control and precision for modern performance environments, while the passive mode retains the punch, warmth, and immediacy that define the BB platform. This flexibility makes the BB735A adaptable across rock, funk, pop, fusion, metal, and session work.

The alder/maple/alder body construction enhances resonance and articulation while maintaining balanced weight and strong foundational low-frequency response across all five strings. Yamaha’s updated BB body shape improves comfort and ergonomics without sacrificing the traditional BB identity that has made the series a long-standing favorite among working bass players.

A major upgrade within the BB735A platform is Yamaha’s 6-bolt miter neck joint, which improves body-to-neck energy transfer for enhanced sustain, resonance, and long-term stability. Combined with the 5-piece maple and mahogany neck construction, the bass feels exceptionally solid and dependable during extended rehearsals, touring, and studio use. The Vintage Plus bridge further improves feel and flexibility by supporting both top-load and string-through-body stringing configurations.

The Dark Coffee Sunburst finish gives the BB735A a rich vintage-inspired appearance with darker tonal transitions and understated visual depth. Its warm brown center and darker outer edges pair naturally with the BB body shape and chrome hardware, creating a bass that feels timeless, balanced, and stage-ready while maintaining the grounded working-player identity that defines the BB Series.
