The only modification is the professionally installed Yamaha double tom mounting system added decades ago by Nodar Rode of New York City, one of the most respected names in vintage Gretsch restoration and repair. Among Gretsch enthusiasts, Nodar's workmanship is widely recognized and respected, making this a professionally executed period modification that is part of the kit's documented history.

The Honey Walnut lacquer finish has been beautifully preserved with only light, age-appropriate signs of use. The lacquer retains a rich, even glow and beautifully showcases the natural wood grain throughout.

The chrome hardware is bright, clean, and fully functional. The lugs, die-cast hoops, claws, tension rods, floor tom legs, and bass drum spurs all operate exactly as they should, with only honest cosmetic wear consistent with a carefully preserved vintage instrument.

The interiors are exceptionally clean. The original Gretsch paper labels remain on two of the three drums. The bearing edges are original, smooth, round, and true. The drums are fitted with quality heads and are fully functional and ready to play.
