DESCRIPTION

This amp will become a tried and tested classic. It’s just been redesigned with more powerful transformers to deliver immense headroom. The schematics are faithfully followed from the original DR201 from the very first Hiwatt line up. 8xKT88s, 3xECC83s and an ECC81 along with the original Partridge designed transformers, delivers the sound and tone in spades. Along with our DR201, the DR401 are bound to become the most popular heads that we make for bass. In fact, some bass players would swear by this for full on LOUD! The DR401 is the only head of its kind, the only British hand-wired to military spec super powerful bass head. With 8xKT88s it produces almost 600 of pure valve watts! Perhaps it should have been called Hiwatt 600W!

Switchable to 4, 8 & 16 ohm output impedance, the DR401 allows you to select from 100, 115, 230 and 240 volt sources. The dual channel pre-amp has high & low sensitivity inputs. Cross patch the Normal and Bright Channels and dial in the required drive and tone. Add your favourite pedals to create your own personalised sound. There is simply no better sounding, looking or engineered bass amplifier in the world! This amplifier will last a lifetime!
