We are extremely pleased to be able to offer you something extremely rare and special today: the first prototype of the Les Paul Joe Perry “Gold Rush” Axcess, which was personally aged by Tom Murphy! Originally the Gibson Custom Shop only wanted to produce an extremely unusual Paula with exclusive features. But when Joe Perry saw this prototype, he immediately made the guitar his own signature model. This special Les Paul from the Aerosmith guitarist combines the beautiful curves of a Les Paul with some special features, first and foremost a super smooth-running two-point tremolo system from Wilkinson, comfort contouring on the back, a so-called “roller saddle” and the ingenious “heelless neck joint”, making the playability of the guitar simply first-class and certainly also captivated Joe Perry. But the look of the guitar is also unique, not only because of the phenomenal Murphy aging, but also because the two-piece maple body is framed by an elegant, cream-colored binding and the deep dark rosewood fingerboard enchants with great “pearloid” trapezoid inlays. However, the absolute highlight here is the individually installed 498T humbucker, which can be split into a singlecoil using the push/pull poti. This gives it a wide variety of sound facets and delivers smacking, differentiated Rock sounds of the very finest quality with the very characteristic tone for which we know and love Aerosmith. Clean as well as distorted, this is an energetic sound that is a real joy! Joe said about his Goldtop: “It's the best of the Stratocaster and the best of the Les Paul, because I love the sound of the Les Paul and, ultimately, I love the way a Les Paul feels, but I love the ergonomics of a Strat. I love the whammy bar.” So the only question that remains with this Paula, which we can offer you in the best collector's condition, is whether you are dealing with a top player with a powerful sound or an exceedingly rare collector's item. But whatever demands you place on a guitar, this gem fulfills them!
