The Starplayer Special is a reproduction of the first Duesenberg prototypes from 1992 and won the 2003 "Guitar of the Year" in the UK.

It has a solid body of American alder and a screwed neck in American hard rock maple with a rosewood fingerboard. This combination gives an exceptional sound with harmonics, clarity, attack and long sustain. Equipped with a Crunchbucker pickup that has a little more output in the bridge position and a Grand Vintage Humbucker in the neck position. All metal parts have Duesenberg's own unique design in Art Deco style that is reflected down to the smallest detail. Tunamatic bridge and stop tailpiece. 3-way switch, volume control and Multi-tone knob with coil-splitting function. The Duesenberg Starplayer Special has a solid body made of alder. Its has a single-cut shape and a bolted-on maple neck. The wood types used is where this model differs from its American predecessor, which invariably uses mahogany. As you'd expect from one of Germany's top guitar builders, the neck fits perfectly. The body surrounds the heel of the neck and makes good contact all round ensuring long sustain and a distinct character. The use of maple adds a touch more attack and clarity that is often missing on other guitars of this type.

Duesenberg Starplayer Special Blue Sparkle: versatile

The Duesenberg Starplayer Special Blue Sparkle features a Grand Vintage humbucker in the neck position and a slightly higher-output Duesenberg Crunchbucker at the bridge. As its name suggests, the body has a beautiful blue sparkle finish. While this guitar screams 'rock', its Multi-Tone control means it's suitable for a variety of other styles too. The humbuckers can be switched to function as single-coils, which makes this instrument highly versatile. It's not for nothing that this model was named 'guitar of the year' in 2003.

Fans around the world

Duesenberg got its name from a famous German car brand from the 1920s, which was synonymous with elegance, luxury and mechanical precision. Clearly, Duesenberg Guitars strives for those very same things. Since 1986, they've been crafting instruments with incredible attention to detail and shapes that bring to mind the Art Deco movement. All of the hardware used was developed in-house. This results in eye-catching guitars with a unique sound favoured by many famous guitarists around the world. Joe Walsh, Glenn Frey, Ron Wood, Bob Dylan, Billy Gibbons, Jon Bon Jovi, Mike Campbell, Elvis Costello; all of these musicians have one or more Duesenbergs.
