Up for sale a rare Boss DB-5 Driver (1977), in great shape and full working order!

One of the rarest Boss pedals, produced for just a couple of years in the late 70s, the DB-5 Driver comes from Boss’s early and more experimental era. It’s a genuinely weird pedal in the best possible way, and very different from anything else in the Boss lineup.

It features three modes that deliver three distinct sounds: a dedicated EQ, an Attack + EQ mode that works like a compressor, and a Distortion + EQ mode with a very original character, somewhere between fuzz and octave fuzz. The five-band EQ is always active, which makes this pedal surprisingly flexible and allows you to shape your tone in every setting.

Sonically, it sounds incredible: it works beautifully as a clean or dirty boost, as a compressor, as a standalone EQ, and as a drive or full-on fuzz unit. It’s musical, unusual, and difficult to replicate with modern pedals.

Condition is excellent for its age. The circuit is completely original and has never been modified. Cosmetically, there are a few nicks and dings here and there, consistent with age, but overall it appears lightly used and remains in great shape. There are no functional issues: the sliders move smoothly and everything works as it should. It can be powered with six AA batteries, a single 9V battery, or a DC power supply.
