GRECO EG-420 R - 1972-73 - ALL ORIGINAL - MIJ VINTAGE LES PAUL

An early and all-original Greco Les Paul from 1972-73 - in remarkably good shape.

Note the 'Gneco' logo. This was made before the Greco design change in 1975 when serial numbers were also introduced. This has none.

But it does have the original date-stamped Maxon pickups from 1972 which are superb.

Exceptional build quality and materials to these early Greco Les Pauls which were produced in collaboration with the guitarist Shigeru Narumo. His upgrades to Greco's first Les Paul, the EG-360, included neck and body profile improvements and removing the bridge pickup cover - it's not missing!

Condition-wise...

Cosmetically this is in great shape.

The 'pancake' body, neck and all bindings are extremely clean.

Some minor blemishes here and there. One bruise to the front and minor scrapes to the head. (See photos)

The ebony fretboard is also very good. The frets do have some wear but nothing to affect fingering or intonation. This is good right across the fretboard.

Hardware is in fine condition too, including the distinctive original 'Star' tuners. The neck pickup cover and escutcheon have some knocks but work absolutely fine. Only the pickguard is absent.

Electrics are perfect.

Sound-wise, these original Maxon humbuckers have all the raunchiness you could ever wish for yet can be super-subtle if required.

Overall...

A lovely example of one of Greco's earliest authentic Les Pauls.

This beautifully-made 'Golden-Era' Japanese guitar just looks, plays and sounds superb. Very good sustain and clarity. Some real mean Oomph! on offer.

No case available - but rest assured, our packaging is exemplary - as our feedback testifies.

Consequently there is no guarantee that an instrument arrives with exactly the same set up as stated. After a period of acclimatisation, you may still need to make any adjustments at your own expense.
