How to Check Your Current Firmware Version:

• Before purchasing, check which ROM version your TX802 is running:
• With the TX802 turned off, hold both the 8 and 9 buttons together and turn on the unit.
• The installed ROM version will be shown on the display. Turn off the TX802 after noting the version.

• Version 1.5 is a supplemental release designed to fix remaining bugs, improve overall stability, and optimize firmware performance. It is the recommended upgrade for all users seeking the most reliable operation of their TX802.

Important Notes on User Sounds and Data Backup:

• Upgrading the OS should not erase user sounds, but a weak or dead internal battery can result in memory loss after power-off.
• To avoid losing any custom patches, back up your TX802 via MIDI SysEx before installation.
• Factory sound sets and patch reload guides are available online. Support for MIDI backups is not included.

Compatibility:

• Compatible with all Yamaha TX802 units designed for socketed EPROM installation (EPROM is typically located at IC6 on the mainboard). If unsure about your hardware, please ask before purchasing.

Important Installation Warning: Always unplug the TX802 before opening the case. Align the notch on the EPROM chip with the notch on the socket before installing. Incorrect EPROM installation (such as backwards insertion) can destroy the chip and may damage your TX802. If you are unsure, contact me for guidance before powering on.

• Work only in an ESD-safe environment and use proper anti-static precautions.
• If you are not confident about installation, do not power on your synth. Send a clear photo of your install for verification—I'm happy to help you avoid any issues.
