I’m selling my 1976 Gibson Explorer Limited Edition.

The guitar has been played and shows the usual dings, dents and general wear you’d expect from an exactly 50-year-old guitar. Definitely not a case queen, but an honest vintage Explorer with plenty of character.

Technically, the guitar is in very good condition. No breaks or headstock repairs. It was professionally refretted by Matthias Schindehütte and the new frets show virtually no wear.

I replaced the bridge pickup with a new Gibson 498T. The original Gibson bridge pickup is included with the guitar. One pot and/or capacitor appears to have been replaced at some point as well.

There is no original case, unfortunately, but the guitar comes with an older flight case as well as a gig bag.

The guitar sounds fantastic and plays beautifully. The substantial neck profile on these Limited Editions is something special and a big part of what makes these guitars so much fun to play.

The guitar can of course be inspected and played in person.

The asking price reflects the fact that this is a genuine Limited Edition that has actually been played and rocked rather than spending its life in a case.

There is also a short video of the guitar by Nik Petrek, who also took these great photos in his workshop. More pictures, including detailed shots of the back, will follow.

Reasonable offers are welcome. Generally not interested in trades, although I might consider a James Tyler.

Shipping is possible, securely packed in a proper guitar shipping box.

Private sale, therefore no warranty or returns.
