Analog Diode Clipper 2 Distortion Box for Mixing and Mastering Music Audio Colour Box

The Almighty beautiful Diodes 2! Two stereo sets of super rare vintage diodes for enhancing your mixes and masters. The Mullard OA86 set make any audio run through them sound bigger and more juicy. At lower saturation settings they ‘Hold’ audio lke a bus comp should but without any compression artifacts. I love them in parallel pushed to the edge of distortion then backed off so they’re just audible…..the mix just sounds better. Listen in the video for the space and 3d-ness they add - then listen to what they do to the piano piece at the end. Mighty nice.
The second set are extremely rare STC CV8412 diodes. I’ve not heard other diodes behave like they do - it’s a bit like someone got a vintage 60’s mixing desk and squeezed it into a little silver cap. The soft clipping is so sublime it can hold audio (even harsh audio!) in place, soften the transients and push audio back into its’ own space. They’re amazing for softening harshness and placing things in the mix. Listen to what they do to the beat - then enjoy their loveliness on the piano at the video’s end.
Also super for running whole mixes through in parallel!
Using the free Airwindows Purest gain is critical in getting the exact right amount of saturation for your audio source (and also for rebalancing the volume after the diodes) as it can + or - in tiny increments. They are sensitive bits of gear - so start running audio into them at -18db and work your way up to the desired saturation / clipping.
You can of course run side one into side two (or vice versa) for extra flavours - and for extra yumminess run the output of side one into the output of side two! (or vice versa!)
