Here for sale we have an Overwater J Series Contemporary 5-String Bass in Metallic Blue finish. The Overwater Guitar Company was started by Chris May and at the start it was an even split between making guitars and basses, however it then became apparent to Chris that there was a gap in the market for high quality, innovative bass guitars and thus the focus shifted. Overwater is now a world-renowned Bass brand and has served many professional bass players over the years. 

Made in the United Kingdom in 2023, this bass consists of a Alder body, a Maple neck, and a 24-fret Ebony fingerboard Luminlay dots. Other appointments include an Overwater Custom top-loading bridge, Hipshot Ultra Lite tuners, and Overwater Turned Black hardware. The pickups installed are a set of Overwater Jazz Single Coils that are wired to a Volume (Push/Pull Bright Switch), Master Tone, Blend, and a 3-band EQ. 

The Maple neck plays very well, with its profile somewhat resembling a 'D' shape, and feeling smooth and responsive in the hand. The Gloss finish to the rear of the neck feels pleasing under the thumb and enhances transitions up and down the neck, whilst the double cut design of the body makes for great access to the higher register. The Ebony fingerboard feels luxurious and  provides a smooth and durable playing surface, with easy access and smooth playability across the register.

The Overwater Jazz Single Coils pickups have a well rounded tone, with a solid and commanding low end, a tight and punchy midrange, along with clear and cutting highs. The active controls offer a plethora of tonal options, allowing you to take full control of your sound with a 3-band active EQ and a pickup blend knob, great for sculpting out the perfect tone for any playing situation. The addition of the Master Tone control makes staying in control of your tone even easier, and is a very welcome feature. Overall a very impressive and well-built bass with a lovely modern feel!

Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall very good condition. A light chip to the lacquer finish is present to the front face face treble side edge towards the tip, this has exposed the wood beneath the finish.

Neck: Overall very good condition. Light indentations are present to the treble side rear of the neck, these can be seen at the 15th fret and can be felt slightly in the playing position. The Satin finish to the rear of the neck has been lightly polished to a Gloss texture through previous use.

Body: Overall excellent condition. All aspects of the body display light scratching which can only be seen under direct light, the most prominent of these can be seen to the rear face bass side lower bout.

Condition of Frets:

The frets demonstrate mild signs of use, not affecting playability. Flattening of the frets is apparent throughout the register. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.

Current Set Up:

Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5mm hex) not included.

Hardware: Overall excellent condition. Mild scratching is present to the pick guard, these can be seen under direct light and is consistent with previous use.

Structural: No concerns or issues to note.

Height of the string from the 12th Fret-2mm - Bass 2.5mm

Case & Accessories

Hiscox hard case.

Overall very good condition and fully functional. A previous owner has applied several stickers to the exterior of the case. Light scuff markings are present to the exterior of the case consistent with past use.
