James Macdonald creates guitars, art, furniture, and portraits, featuring marquetry, using veneers from trees around the world to create pictures in wood.
Originally learning to make electric guitars at Richelieu Guitars in Bridgeport CT in the early '80's, Macdonald runs a successful custom woodworking business and has created marquetry and inlay designs for the Gibson Custom Shop, Petros Guitars, Hinckley Yachts, and others.
Macdonald's guitars feature one-of-a-kind hand cut marquetry designs. The instruments use high-quality components, with top-rated boutique pickups by Fralin, Sheptone and others. The goal is always to custom build exceptional guitars that play great, sound great, and look great. Custom orders using your design ideas are encouraged.
Shipping Policy
I will ship with tracking to the continental United States. Alaska, Hawaii, and international shipments may incur additional charges.
