🎸Custom Patented Fretboard ⭐️FretCorner Vibrato/Bends. Custom Vertical Scallops On All Strings or Partial. Choose Any New / Pre-Owned Guitar/ Bass🔈🎶🤘🏽

Story:
In 2017, patented fitness/guitar Inventor💡 Max Greenhouse AKA Max Greene (BA Music UCSC) customized the 1st guitar fretboard with vertical scallop grooves between each string allowing FretCorner Bends/ Pulloffs/ Vibrato on ALL Strings! In 2020 he was granted a fully issued utility patent US Patent. #10,643,538

Pulling strings into groove channels will shift the pitch of notes in new ways and actually plucks an extra note to create rhythms not possible on any other fretboard design in history. Takes skill to get proper tone and accurate bend technique.

*Note: If guitar/ bass is on sale online send me link and I can set up custom auction to save you $$ or link to pre-owned gear. Even send me an extra fretboard or guitar you own and I’ll customize it.

*Will Grooves Pinch Fingers?
Never. Look at pics in gallery. Many people assume it is uncomfortable to play and fingers will pinch in groove. Based on thickness of strings and size of grooves it is impossible as string fits accurate in groove with not enough gap to get finger pinched. I have tested every fret with both med and large size hands and never had an issue. Plays flawless.

*Quality Guarantee

You have to understand I invented a new *patent pending tool to even make these groove lines accurate and any custom size. Plus I have over 50+ color groove inlay stickers. Even spaced grooves with clean perfect sized lines / accurate shallow depth & even shaped smooth polished fretcrowns.

Therefore, if you wanted to hire someone else to make this or on your own it would be impossible to do as professional as mine. Plus I have over 3+ yrs experience on over 15+ custom groove fretboards of various guitars and basses.

No one will do them better or more affordable. I even grind/ shape over 100+ fret crowns per order on fretted bass/ guitars and go over with my polish wheel so it is smooth, strings do not get stuck and plays flawless plus no finger pinch when pulling into groove channels

Even if a luthier could do these they’d charge you over $400 -$600 or more for the amount of work. They’d need to build my *patent pending tool and a custom mount which cost me $1k . I’m mainly charging only $50 average labor for proof of concept to license my utility patent but don’t underestimate the quality of my luthier work or amount of time I will spend to make them as pro as they can be in every way I can. I’ve dialed my system over time.

On one hand it is an amazing/inspiring showpiece to add to your collection! Every time I walk into my music room the look inspires me & it’s a prized piece to display.

How did you get the idea?

By pulling the High E string over the FretCorner or Low E I was getting new percussive tones, extra notes on pulloffs and new vibrato. The idea of adding grooves would allow this technique on all strings either up or downward.

What famous musicians have done Fretcorner bend techniques in history?

I have done extensive research online and discovered examples through listening to live performances, interviews & forums. It shows how underrated and important this technique has been in the creation of many timeless iconic tracks.

1. Jimi Hendrix 🤴🏾🎸
Jimi carved groove notches on the 16th fret using sand paper to get the tone on the epic Foxy Lady Intro vibrato swell. His former guitar tech Seymour Duncan talks about it in an interview online. It really adds a unique clicky / scratchy tone / pitch shift as the FretCorner plucks the string.

2. Wojtek Pilichowski 🐐🎸👋🏽
Legendary bassist pulls the high G string over FretCorner on Pulloffs to create new triplet fills enhancing rhythm. I have 10+ examples with slomos in my YT vid link. It truly is his epic signature bass move.

3. Jeff Buckley 🤴🎙
Watch “Hallelujah Live Chicago”performance on the guitar solo part. He uses 2 hands and does FretCorner vibrato on the high E string. Creates a subtle infinite sustain as FretCorner plucks note and sets the mood of the song. Truly is 1 of those inspiring once in a lifetime moments in music that will live forever.

4. Victor Wooten 🤴🏾🎸👋🏽
Adds FretCorner bends/ Pulloffs on high G or low E to get percussive tones.

5. Kirk Hammett 🎸🤴🏽
On the final solo bend on 2nd solo of “Master of Puppets” Kirk pulls the high E off the FretCorner to create an epic tone and reach a higher octave. If you compare live version VS. studio record you can tell. This info is documented on song facts site.

6. Dream Theatre - John Petrucci 🎸🐐
John has done FretCorner pulloffs on high E on several solos. Very subtle yet adds extra rhythms.

7. And So I Watch You From Afar 🤘🏽🎸
On Search:Party:Animal the lead guitarists does Pulloffs over FretCorner on high E. Watch the live vid. Cool example of metal core style.

8. Ron Carter🤴🏾🎸
Legendary Miles Davis Group upright double bass pioneer invents FretCorner vibrato/ bends around 1970’s on the iconic Intro/ outro of “Jim Hall - Concierto” as shown in my vid. Plus he does this technique on jazz freestyle live performances.

9. Kurt Cobain ⭐️🎸👑
If you watch Kurt solo live where he rolls on the floor he often pulls the strings off fretboard in a passionate fury of random strumming and sound FX. Total anti rockstar solo. Bending over fretcorner adds new percussive tones and pitch shifts which Kurt wanted to achieve.

10. Flea (RHCP) 🤴🏽🎸👋🏽🇺🇸
On the cover of “RHCP Bass Play Along” Book Flea is pulling both the D & G string over the edge of the fretcorner to get extra range on bend / percussive tones. Many famous rockstars have done this bend style which takes skill / technique.

More famous examples to be discovered!

Do grooves limit standard playing?

There is still enough room to do standard vibrato and standard pulloffs/ chords.

The only technique that is limited are full string bends. Most bass players do not do Bends often so it doesn’t limit standard playing. I can add partial grooves as well to specific frets or strings

The idea is to experiment with new FretCorner Bend techniques as shown in my example vids. If you want traditional bends just add an extra part to a jam or recording with regular bass.

For example, you can’t bend 12 string guitars or 8 string bass yet it’s still a great guitar for the sounds it creates. That’s how I see this as an experimental instrument.

The groove slots offer new bend/vibrato/pulloff techniques to add new styles not possible on any other fretboard in addition to regular pulloffs/vibrato.

How does Groove Fretboard differ from other Types of fretboards??

The main difference is that groove fretboard allows you a brand-new technique of playing that you can’t do on any other fretboard by pulling the string over the FretCorner to pluck the string adding new rhythms/tones/sustain/extra notes.

In comparison scallops, fanned, microtonal, fretless, true temperament change the sound/feel of the guitar or allow further bends like scallops yet they don’t offer any different playing techniques from a standard fretboard.

Pulling the string over the FretCorner is a 1 of a kind technique that can alter rhythms/ tone is ways no other fretboard can do.

Can FX pedals mimic the FretCorner Pulloff/Bend Styles?

FX will enhance whatever sounds are played.

If your getting different vibrato/pulloff tone with FretCorner Bend techniques then you will get sounds on FX pedals that every other type of fretboard can’t achieve. It adds another level to rhythm that is unique.

Besides there are many ways to achieve the same sound with different styles of guitar playing. Each style offers subtle variations & new challenges to build skill. For instance, whammy bar vs tremelo bridge. Both are similar but offer different skills & variations.

What FretCorner techniques are possible?

I. FretCorner Pulloff

Steps:

1. Fret Note/Chord

2. Pullover FretCorner

3. Release Open Note

(*Adds More Flare/Percussive Tones & Extra Notes)

(Combine with tremelo picking, taps & other styles to create new buildups/rhythms)

II. FretCorner Vibrato

Steps:

1 Fret Note/Chord

2. Pull Into Groove

3. Vibrato up/down over Fretcorner

(*Infinite Sustain as FretCorner Plucks Note)

(Use 2 hands on opposite strings to vibrato different rhythms)

*Add Whammy Bar

How do you customize each fretboard?

Over 3-4 yrs I have evolved my design process after customizing over 15+ groove fretboards

Customs include:

1. Evenly space grooves

Allow each string proper spacing/distance & best aesthetic look

2. Perfect Groove depth

Allows the FretCorner technique while taking the minimum cut required preserving neck strength

3. Perfect size grooves

This is the skinniest grooves possible to drill using down router bits to fit the string. Any smaller bit will break.

This size allows each string to fit perfectly inside without making it any bigger than necessary thus preserving the most fretwire spacing or improved playability.

Fingers won’t get pinched as this size is too narrow.

Takes excellent precision and practice to cut the grooves this skinny. Don’t try at home as each drill bit costs $23

4. Professional Even Polished FretCrowns ( for fretted guitar/ bass)

After 3 yrs of practice I can accurately file even FretCrowns on all sides. This is the most time consuming of all the steps.

After I add FretCrowns I use a polish wheel to give each of them a smooth finish to improve performance. Truly the shape and finish of theFretCorner effects the performance/tone.

Guaranteed no string will stick or get stuck under fretwire. Every Fret is tested. Plays flawless!

5. Custom Groove Sticker Decals

After I complete the grooves I can add your choice of custom vinyl stickers to the grooves. Each sticker is pre cut into strips so it makes adding them simple. Choose from any color combo. Made by Neck Illusions

6. Custom vinyl sticker

Included with each guitar is 2 custom vinyl stickers to add to the overall look/brand of my customs on the guitar body. Choose the color options in pic

Will Strings wear?

After months of playing the strings still perform & sound great. The fact I polish & round my FretCorners improves performance.

For electric guitar/ bass I like Elixer strings or coated strings as they reduce buzz and are smoother on FretCorner bends/ pulloffs

Cost of Custom bass

My labor is $55 on top of the cost of new guitar & shipping. Introductory offer as I’m starting my business. $30/hr Takes about 2-3 hrs

Most luthiers would charge $400-600 or more for this work & most would not have even attempt it as they would need to design my *patent pending tool / mount plus do Fret Crowns inside each groove which takes practice. I invested $1K in luthier tools plus put 60+ hrs practice on perfecting customs.

No one will do a better custom than me or for this price! I dedicated my life to mastering the craft at all levels over 3-4 yrs as well as categorizing FretCorner styles & proving concept.

Each guitar is custom built to order.

Total cost of guitar shipped to me from online music gear vendor is shown in screen cap. I do honest business so I keep price accurate.

TBH I only make $50-70 with seller fees. I’m mainly getting experience selling customs. The lower the price the better chance I have at sales as it is a new concept. When I try to license the idea next yr in 2021 the more sales the better.

Shipping UPS Ground (lowest cost)

I am offering the Rogue fretless / Glarry bass and many other affordable basses / guitars because it is the least expensive instruments with great tone.

How long will it take to finish?

2 weeks maximum. I have to order it, have it shipped to me, then customize it and ship to you ground.

All orders will provide a tracking #

Refunds

Refunds will be accepted in 30 days if any of the 6 steps listed above are not achieved at a professional level. If it arrived damaged or not as pictured.

I will take full pics and vid of the guitar prior to shipping toget your approval.

I prefer new guitars because they are guaranteed to work in perfect condition. I would buy after market replacement necks but you gotta buy tuning pegs and it saves you less than $30 on what I’m selling. Often times the neck by itself costs more than a new entire guitar/ bass. Better to get a new guitar instead.

Take time to practice & learn the FretCorner techniques as many take discipline/ proper tone/ consistency to master! This is an advanced level experimental guitar. I’ve been playing 25+ yrs and still am learning.

On one hand it is an amazing/inspiring showpiece to add to your collection! Every time I walk into my music room the look inspires me & it’s a prized piece to display.

Send me Your Guitar to Customize

If you collect guitars like me (15+ guitars of all types in my music room) and want to send me an email with a picture of the guitar you want to custom from your collection I can set up an auction.

You will pay shipping to and from + $50-60 custom work (Intro rate)

If you remove the neck it will reduce shipping cost for electric or bass guitar.

Let me know what custom details you want added like sticker decals
