BOSS SG-1 Slow Gear 1979 Made in Japan – Early 8400 Batch – Vintage MIJDescriptionVintage BOSS SG-1 Slow Gear, made in Japan in 1979.This is an early example of the original SG-1, with 8400 date/batch code, dating the pedal to July 1979.The SG-1 was one of BOSS's earliest compact effects and had a relatively short production run. It has since become one of the most collectible vintage BOSS pedals. The Slow Gear produces its distinctive effect by suppressing the initial attack of the note and gradually bringing up the signal, creating violin-like swells and other unusual textures.This example has been used and shows honest cosmetic wear consistent with its age. There are scratches, small paint chips and edge wear, and the original bottom label shows considerable wear. Please see the photographs for a detailed representation of condition.The pedal retains its vintage Made in Japan black label, original-style knobs, and early four-digit 8400 date code inside the battery compartment. I have also included a photograph of the internal circuit board so buyers can inspect its condition.The battery-compartment thumbscrew is black rather than the silver screw found on some early examples.
