Vintage 1970 Martin D-35 w/ Original Hard Shell Case
Serial #: 269721
We acquired this beauty in early July - a one owner guitar that hasn't been played for about 30 years.
Often, we get guitars that look pretty weathered and worn-out... like they spent too many nights at a 10 cent Honky-Tonk. On the contrary, this girl started her life as a debutante - mixed with the right people and always taken home before midnight.
Story has it is that: after years of courtship, one evening she was to a taken to a fancy ball by her Prince Charming... and they danced for hours. Towards the end of the night her handsome date glanced across the room, only for an instant, yet his heart was stolen... by a Martin D-45. The Prince, having unlimited resources, took both ladies home (kinky? maybe) and played with both for awhile. At the end of that long night the D-35 had found her new place... in the closet. And, this is where Miss D-35's story continues. Last week, after her long slumber, she has been re-awakened, spent days at the spa, is polished up... and wants revenge against that cheating Bastard!!!!
All repairs on this Martin D-35 were lovingly performed by Luthier's Workshop in Green Bay WI and she is now looking for a new home.
Recent Repairs:
- Neck Reset, Bridge Reattached, New Compensated Bone Saddle, Re-glued Loose Back Braces, Pickguard Reattached, Top Crack Near Sound Hole Glued and Cleated
- Remaining Fret Life: 95%
The nut is original yet seems to have a factory shim on the bass side (very strange yet I left it as is rather than cutting a new one). Small side crack visible in pic# 18. Typical scuffs and bumps for a 56 year old.
