The Music Zoo is proud to offer this incredible, all-original 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard for sale. This guitar bears the serial number 90320, with a wonderful Sunburst finish that has retained most of its color through more than six decades. Before it was in the collection of its previous owner, the guitar was sourced from a private collection where it resided for many years - helping to maintain its excellent condition. The 'Patent Applied For' Gibson humbuckers are original as is the internal wiring harness, and all original hardware including the tuners, plastics, bridge, and tailpiece.

The neck of this '59 has a medium to full-carve with a slight "V" profile. The PAF humbuckers have a terrific high-fidelity 'zing' to them with lots of definition in the treble, and excellent response to your pick attack and the positioning of the volume and tone controls. The original pots turn cleanly with no scratchiness between settings, nor are there any issues with the 3-way pickup switch.

Considering its age, originality, and level of preservation, this is an excellent example of a 1959 Les Paul. There is lots of red left in the burst, with the most fading into lighter colors on the bass side of the top. The most distinctive visual characteristic is the concentrated fading on the upper bass-side edge running along the fretboard. The fretboard retains the original frets, which, accurate to what Gibson used at the time, are quite small compared to modern frets but still have lots of life remaining. There is a light amount of worming on the back of the body, a few small dents on the maple top, and some wear to the top edges of the back of the headstock. The holly veneer and Gibson logo remain in excellent condition, as does the neck with nothing beyond finish fading. This Les Paul weighs 8 lbs, 6 oz. The neck measures .880" at the first fret and .990" at the 12th fret.

The guitar includes the original five-latch hardshell case along with a signed Letter of Appraisal from George Gruhn, written after reviewing detailed photographs of the instrument.
