This StingRay 5 HS is in very good overall condition with honest signs of use. The body itself is clean — no dings, chips, or significant finish damage. The ash grain shows beautifully through the Cherry Sunburst finish on both the front and back. Where you'll see wear is on the pickguard, which has accumulated plenty of finger and pick marks from regular playing, and on the hardware — the input jack plate shows tarnish and some corrosion, and the machine heads have light tarnish as well. The chrome bridge and neck plate are in good shape. Frets and fingerboard show normal use. No modifications or repairs have been done; this is all original.
Includes the original Music Man hardshell case. The case is worn with surface scuffs and scratches but is fully functional — latches, hinges, and interior are all intact.
Weight: 9 lbs 13 oz
The StingRay 5 HS is where Music Man's iconic bass platform gets genuinely versatile. The HS pickup configuration pairs a humbucker at the bridge with a single coil at the neck, giving this bass a tonal range that the standard single-humbucker StingRay simply can't match. The 3-position toggle lets you run the humbucker alone, the single coil alone, or both together, and the 18-volt 3-band active EQ gives you serious sculpting power on top of that. It covers everything from the classic StingRay growl and thump to more nuanced, almost jazz-bass-adjacent territory when you isolate the neck pickup.
Built on an ash body with a select maple neck and maple fingerboard, this is a USA-made instrument from Music Man's San Luis Obispo, California facility — the same shop that's been building these since 1984.
