Danelectro '60 Baby Sitar — Brown Sunburst

If you've ever wanted to drop a sitar part into a song without spending years learning a completely different instrument, this is how you do it. The Danelectro Baby Sitar is a six-string electric guitar tuned to standard tuning and played like a guitar — the sitar effect comes from the Gotoh sitar bridge, which lets the strings buzz against the saddle to produce that unmistakable droning, resonant character that defined records from the '60s and beyond. Think "Do It Again" by Steely Dan or the bridge of "Norwegian Wood" — that sound, accessible to any guitarist who can pick one up and play.
The round body and thermometer-style headstock give it an appearance that's distinctly its own, and the single Lipstick pickup handles the rest — bright, clear, and with enough midrange presence to sit well in a recording mix or cut through a live arrangement. Controls are simple: master volume and master tone. There's nothing to overthink here, which is part of the appeal. This isn't an instrument you'll play every night, but when the part calls for it, nothing else sounds like it — and at this price, it's a practical addition to any guitarist's collection rather than an extravagance.
