DESCRIPTION
This is a used Tama Superstar 8x14" (depth x diameter) snare drum that recently came into our shop on trade. Manufactured in Japan, this 1982-model snare (badge number 82-19028) features birch shell construction with a natural maple finish, chrome hardware, and diecast hoops. Everything appears to be original with the exception of the heads, snare wires, and keyed bolts that hold the tape in place on the strainer and butt (originally they would have been phillips head screws).
As a previously owned instrument that's over four decades old, you should expect typical signs of age-appropriate handling and use, including lots of small surface scuffs, scratches, and dings (none are large or serious), and some pitting and light corrosion on much of the chrome and hardware. Also note that the internal muffler was removed at some point and is no longer available. Cosmetic blemishes aside, this drum is in very good overall condition and has been thoroughly cleaned and fitted with brand-new Evans heads. It is fully functional, structurally sound, in-round, the bearing edges are in good shape, and it sounds fantastic!
