A veritable icon of American craftsmanship, the Gibson Acoustic J-45 Standard traces its storied legacy back to 1942 and its enduring reputation as “the workhorse” of acoustic guitar designs. Originally named for its modest $45 price tag and jumbo body shape, the J-45 has inspired generations of musicians and powered countless classic recordings across rock, pop, and country music.
Its iconic slope-shouldered dreadnought body pairs a Sitka spruce top with hand-scalloped X-bracing and mahogany back and sides, producing deep bass response, rich midrange character, and crisp note decay. A mahogany SlimTaper neck and 12-inch-radius rosewood fingerboard provide a comfortable, modern playing experience while preserving the guitar’s vintage-inspired feel.
Built for both studio and stage, the J-45 Standard features LR Baggs VTC electronics for natural amplified tone, Grover Rotomatic tuners for dependable tuning stability, and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish that will continue to age gracefully with years of playing.
