This Taylor Custom Grand Concert is in mint condition. The top, back, sides, neck, fretboard, and hardware all present as essentially new — no pick wear on the top, no marks on the back, no fret wear, no dings or dents anywhere on the instrument. The gold Gotoh 510 tuners show no tarnishing. The frets are clean and unworn. If nobody told you this was used, you wouldn't know.
The AAAA quilted maple on the back and sides is exceptional — deep, three-dimensional figure that catches light from every angle. The AAAA maple neck is equally impressive. This is clearly a guitar where the wood selection was a priority, and the result speaks for itself.
Includes the original Taylor hardshell case (in excellent condition), Expression System 2 booklet, and the TaylorSense monitoring system (module and app — tracks humidity, temperature, battery life, and physical impact).
This is a one-of-a-kind Taylor Custom Shop Grand Concert, built at Taylor's El Cajon, California facility in July 2014. Taylor's Custom program lets players and dealers spec a guitar from the ground up — tonewoods, appointments, binding, inlays, and finishing details that go well beyond what the standard production line offers. Every Custom build is unique, and this one was put together with a clear priority: let the wood do the talking.
The AAAA quilted maple back and sides on this guitar are genuinely show-stopping. The figure is deep, consistent, and runs across every visible surface — including the AAAA maple neck, which carries its own distinctive flame. Maple back and sides give the Grand Concert body a clear, articulate voice with a bright, focused top end and a controlled low end that sits well in a mix or under fingers. The Engelmann spruce top adds a warmth and complexity that Sitka doesn't always deliver — a little more headroom in the overtones, a touch more sweetness in the upper register. The combination with the compact GC body makes for a guitar that's exceptionally responsive to touch.
The nut width has been spec'd at 1-11/16" rather than the standard Grand Concert 1-3/4", which gives this guitar a slightly more familiar feel for players coming from a Grand Auditorium or an electric. It's a subtle but deliberate choice that makes this Custom GC more versatile than the typical fingerstyle-oriented concert body.
The appointments are refined without being flashy: koa binding and a koa armrest, koa rosette, ebony fretboard and bridge, gold Gotoh 510 tuners, and simple dot inlays. Even the headstock logo is a custom touch — maple rather than the standard abalone. Taylor's Expression System 2 electronics are onboard for plugged-in performance, along with the TaylorSense monitoring system.
All original, no modifications.
