The Epiphone Mayfair 5-String Banjo is a recreation of Epiphone's historic first generation masterpiece from the 1920s. A banjo that helped make the ''House of Stathopoulo'' one of the premier instrument makers, this recreation delivers the same legendary tone and style with modern improvements. Its mahogany resonator and neck, Remo head, rosewood fingerboard and traditional banjo tuners provide powerfully classic tones and stability, producing excellent clarity and warmth with balanced intonation across the entire neck. The Mayfair Banjo is finished off with a historic Mayfair banner design on the back, a traditional ''clamshell'' designed tailpiece, a 1920's headstock profile with a perfect recreation of the era's Mayfair logo and iconic Epiphone banner.

Back in the 1920s, when the founder of Epiphone Epi Stathopoulo was working hard to bring his business to the thriving musical scene of Manhattan, Jazz had become the defining music of the time. As the banjo was the main rhythm instrument of jazz bands, Epi worked hard to deliver a banjo that would stand above the rest which resulted in his line of modern banjos that quickly became the industry standard. The Epiphone Mayfair embodies this design, delivering the same full tonal range, great intonation, craftsmanship, and ornate designs.
