The RME OctaMic II is a high-performance 8-channel microphone and line preamplifier with integrated 192 kHz/24-bit AD conversion, designed for professional studio environments that demand transparency, precision and rock-solid reliability. Combining carefully selected analog components with RME’s proven digital technology, the OctaMic II captures and converts signals with exceptional clarity, extremely low distortion and an impressively wide frequency response.

Eight High-Class Mic/Line Preamps

Each of the eight channels features a balanced Neutrik XLR/TRS combo input, allowing true microphone or line-level operation. The TRS inputs are phantom-power free, making them ideal for real line sources. Gain is adjustable from 6 dB to 60 dB, accommodating signals from -40 dBu up to +21 dBu.

Every channel includes:

• Switchable 48 V phantom power
• 80 Hz high-pass filter (18 dB/octave)
• Phase reversal
• Signal, clip and phantom power LEDs

The Clip Hold function provides long-term peak detection by flashing the clip LED once per second after overload, so you don’t have to constantly monitor levels.

Compared to the original OctaMic, the OctaMic II offers:

• Improved ADC signal-to-noise ratio up to 107.5 dB
• Lower THD, especially at higher gain settings

Flexible Output and Reference Levels

Balanced analog outputs are available via eight rear-panel TRS jacks. A front-panel output level switch allows selection between -10 dBV, +4 dBu or Hi Gain (+19 dBu) reference levels. This makes the OctaMic II easy to match with a wide range of RME interfaces and converters while optimizing signal-to-noise performance.

High-Resolution AD Conversion with SteadyClock

The integrated 8-channel AD converter supports sample rates from 28 kHz up to 192 kHz. Digital outputs are available simultaneously via:

• Dual ADAT outputs (S/MUX up to 96 kHz)
• Four AES/EBU outputs via DB-25 (up to 192 kHz)

Clocking options include internal master mode, word clock, AES/EBU and SPDIF. RME’s SteadyClock technology effectively eliminates jitter from external sources, ensuring stable and accurate digital conversion at all times.
