The Ibanez Altstar ALT50FA is built for electric players who want to explore acoustics without fighting unfamiliar territory. With its compact dreadnought body, 15.7" fingerboard radius, and 25.5" scale length, it feels much more like your electric than a traditional acoustic. The single-cutaway design with neck joint at the 16th fret gives you upper fret access that most acoustics can't touch, making it great for players who need to get up the neck for leads or complex chord voicings.

The flamed maple art grain top over basswood gives you that wood-grain look while the sapele back and sides deliver warm mids and bright highs that cut through whether you're fingerpicking or strumming hard. The Ibanez undersaddle pickup and AEQ-2T preamp keep things simple with bass, treble, and volume controls, plus an onboard tuner that works even when unplugged. The purpleheart fretboard and bridge add some visual interest while contributing to the overall tonal character.

We've found these to be solid choices for electric players making the acoustic transition. The Comfort Grip maple neck profile feels familiar, and those Ibanez Advantage bridge pins are genuinely easier to work with than standard pins-they grip better and won't get pushed in too far during string changes. The electronics are straightforward and reliable, and the whole package feels well put together for the price point.
