The Ibanez SR505NMAM SR Standard 5-String Bass in Midnight Arctic Ocean Matte is built for players who live on the low B string and need a fast, modern feel under their hands. With its sleek SR profile and moody, matte finish, it’s the kind of bass that feels immediately familiar yet pushes you to play a little harder, a little tighter, and stay locked in just a little longer.

Features

This SR Standard 5-string is all about comfort and control. The streamlined SR body shape sits snugly against you whether you’re standing or sitting, and the thin, fast neck makes extended-range lines, chords, and fast runs feel effortless across all five strings. The Midnight Arctic Ocean Matte finish gives it a cool, understated look that fits just as well on a dark club stage as it does in a studio setting.

Ergonomics are the star of the show here. The long upper horn helps keep the bass balanced on a strap, while the contoured body lets your picking hand fall naturally into place. Add in the extended range of that low B string, and you’ve got a bass that’s ready for anything from tight, punchy grooves to sprawling, melodic lines higher up the neck.

Tone

This SR505NMAM is voiced for clarity and punch across all five strings. The low end stays focused and controlled, giving your B string definition instead of mud, while the mids cut with a musical growl that helps your lines sit right in the mix. Up top, the highs have enough snap and bite for articulate fingerstyle or pick work without turning harsh.

Whether you’re digging in for aggressive riffs or laying back with more subtle, supportive lines, it responds with a tight, articulate attack and smooth sustain. It’s the kind of tone that feels ready-made for modern rock, fusion, gospel, and anything that demands both depth and precision from a 5-string.
