This is a beautiful example of the Martin 00-21. It sounds truly wonderful and is in very good condition.

The neck is straight. There is no lifting at the bridge or any neck joint separation. There is minimal fret wear, a few minor scratches and rub marks and a couple of small dings, fantastic for its 45 years.

The 00-21 is no longer produced by Martin but it was one of the longest running models in the company’s history. The mid-1960s models are legendary. This 1980 model differs mainly in the back and sides which are Indian rosewood rather than Brazilian. From what I’ve been able to find out on the Unofficial Martin Guitar forum it differs also in the glue used (modern glue vs hide glue). 

Like the 1960s models it is forward braced, as are all 12 fret Martins.  The guard is black instead of the earlier tortoise. 

The neck reinforcement is a non-adjustable 3/8" square tube, introduced in the later 1960s.  I’ve been informed that the bridge plate is the same smaller size as the earlier models (1 3/8") but I’ve not checked inside with a mirror.

I chose this guitar when was trying out some very good Atkin guitars. The Martin sounded distinctly (and immediately) better. I was told when I bought it (sold on commission by a reputable guitar dealer in Hampshire) that it belonged to a well-know British female artist’s manager. I guess these music industry people get hold of the best instruments.

I’m only selling because my playing skills really don’t warrant me owning such a valuable guitar. I don’t do it any justice and I’m better off putting the money towards other things.

The guitar comes with its original hardshell case. The sticker inside the guitar is from Ivor Mairants. London. I didn’t want to remove it as it will show wood colour difference.
