The GWB1 is a five string, fretless, solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1999. It is a signature model for American jazz fusion bassist Gary Willis. It was made in Japan by FujiGen.
The GWB1 features a Soundgear series double-cutaway lightweight swamp ash body bolted to a laminated maple neck with a fretless ebony fingerboard with small white dot position markers. Components include a custom Bartolini passive soapbar bass pickup wired to a Bartolini preamp with a two-band EQ, a standard bridge with 16.5mm string spacing, a removable finger rest/ramp, a graphite nut and Gotoh tuners with custom Sure Grip buttons.
