This is an Italian-made Tone Bender with a hammered gray case!

The VOX Tone Bender was released in late 1966 and was based on the Sola Sound Tone Bender MK1.5, which was released in early 1966. In 1968, the specifications were changed to a black body with silver panels. The Arbiter's Fuzz Face was also based on the MK1.5, and has a similar circuit. While the Fuzz Face has a fat sound, the VOX Tone Bender has sharp, clear highs, while this unit's sound is focused more on the mids and lows. It's more of a medium-gain type, with a rich, thick sound and a slightly gated sound. It's become increasingly difficult to find a good example of this model these days. There's a "4599" stamp and signature on the back cover.

Capacitors and rubber feet (screws) replaced. There is a crack in the ATTACK knob. Battery snap has a notch (does not affect operation).

Era: 1960s

Accessories: None
