The Collings I-30 LC ThroBaks - Burgundy Mist is a masterclass in craftsmanship, tone, and timeless elegance—a true embodiment of the late Bill Collings' legacy as one of the most revered luthiers of the modern era. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to quality, Collings revolutionized the world of boutique guitars, blending vintage inspiration with modern precision. The I-30 LC is a shining example of this ethos, offering players an instrument that is as visually stunning as it is sonically breathtaking.

From the moment you lay eyes on the Burgundy Mist finish, the guitar commands attention with its sophisticated and vintage-inspired aesthetic. The fully hollow maple laminate body—reinforced with parallel trestle braces—delivers an airy, resonant voice with remarkable warmth and dynamic response. Weighing in at just 5 lbs 11 oz, the I-30 LC is effortlessly lightweight, making it a dream to play for hours on end. The non-grained ivoroid binding elegantly outlines the body and rosewood fingerboard, adding a refined touch that speaks to Collings’ dedication to artistry.

At the heart of this guitar’s tonal magic are the ThroBak Dog Ear P90s (55/56)—an inspired choice that perfectly captures the vintage growl, chime, and touch sensitivity players crave. Whether delivering glassy cleans, rich midrange snarl, or snarling overdriven bite, these pickups respond with unparalleled articulation and harmonic complexity. The CTS 500K pots and Jupiter Vintage Yellow capacitors, wired in ’50s style, further enhance the guitar’s organic and open tonal character.

The Honduran mahogany neck, shaped to a comfortable C profile (.865" at the 1st fret, .967" at the 9th fret), feels effortlessly familiar, while the 12" fingerboard radius and medium nickel-silver frets provide a buttery playing experience. The extra-long mortise & tenon neck joint ensures maximum sustain and resonance, while the Kluson ABR-1 bridge and Collings original trapeze tailpiece strike a perfect balance between stability and vintage vibe.

Every detail, from the nickel Gotoh tuners with the Collings logo to the high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish, has been thoughtfully executed to create a guitar that is as much a piece of art as it is an instrument. Nestled in its deluxe hardshell case, the Collings I-30 LC is more than just a guitar—it’s an heirloom-worthy masterpiece that stands as a testament to Bill Collings’ lasting influence on the craft. Whether on stage, in the studio, or simply in the hands of a passionate player, this guitar sings with a voice that is unmistakably Collings.
