Description: The Gibson Longhorn Double Cut is a fairly rare guitar, built in a run of 1000 guitars as Gibson’s ‘Guitar Of The Month’ for July 2008, identified as number 127. Based on a proven formula – an AA grade Maple cap on a Mahogany slab body – the Longhorn Double Cut offered both active pickups and a piezo output, and is available in Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish. In a reference to Gibson models of times past, the headstock carries a traditional ‘flower pot’ inlay set. This is one of the most versatile guitars out there, the built quality from Gibson on this one is just amazing.. The EMG pickups sounds powerful and offer a fat warm tone with lots of sustain and resonance. From blues to heavy metal, this guitar can do everything. This is where it gets interesting, under the Tunomatic Bridge, Gibson have put a L.R Baggs Piezo pickup that allows acoustic simulation and it sounds beautiful. With the volume knobs you can blend the humbuckers with the piezo allowing for a big variation of tones. The Ebony fretboard is smooth and fast to play. The neck is impeccable, low action, no buzz, easy to play, comfortable neck, slinky and fast. The guitar has been used only at home and it is near mint condition except for some gold tarnish on the hardware. No scratches, no dings, no fretwear, no buckle wear. This guitar plays amazing, and looks great! The original Gibson hard shell Guitar Of The Month case is included. More About The Gibson Longhorn Double Cut From The Builder “Gibson USA’s Guitar of the Month for 2008, the Longhorn Double-cutaway, is also Gibson’s newest body design, consisting of slightly extended, asymmetrical cutaways on a solid piece of mahogany topped with a AA figured maple top. White three-ply binding around the body and a traditional headstock add both beauty and protection to this new model. And the improvements don’t end there. A special-design L.R. Baggs piezo pickup has been added underneath the Tune-o-matic bridge to deliver outstanding acoustic simulation. A pair of EMG 85 active humbuckers deliver tone, power, and performance for any style of music, while a new two-jack input from L.R. Baggs offers separate outputs for both the piezo and the humbuckers. This gives players the option of either blending the two sounds or playing them individually, thus allowing guitarists all types of sonic possibilities. The neck is one-piece mahogany with Gibson’s traditional ’60s slim-taper profile, topped by an ebony fingerboard with white acrylic small-block fretboard inlays created especially for the Longhorn. Also in keeping with tradition is the headstock’s Flowerpot inlay, which dates back to the early 1900s and several of Gibson’s historic mandolins and archtops.”
