Modern Concert Body Shape

Inspired by the popular grand concert body shape, the newly designed Modern Concert body shape is Cort's own rethinking of the smaller acoustic body type that was carefully designed for enhanced resonance and responsiveness. Together with a softer venetian cutaway, the Modern Concert shape also boasts playing comfort.

Dual Side Sound Ports

Instead of a conventional sound hole in the centre of the body, the specifically placed dual sound ports on the sides affect the Helmholtz properties of the body and enhance the dynamics and the treble of the acoustic tone. It also allows the player to better monitor the natural sound of the guitar during performance while enabling the audience to hear the guitar as well. Meanwhile, since the top wood is free of sound holes, it is more resilient and resonant.

Bevel Cut Armrest

To enhance comfort and playability, custom bevel cuts for the arm rest and rib rest were implemented. Not only do these cuts provide ergonomic functionality, they provide a unique high-end look not often found on high-end acoustic guitars.

Fishman Matrix Infinity

Tweaked to perform even better with modern acoustic guitar amplifiers, the Matrix Infinity VT pickup and preamp system is the latest evolution of Fishman's flagship Matrix Series. Clear, transparent Fishman-Quality tone and dynamic string response have been combined with numerous new design features and performance enhancements such as soundhole-mounted Volume and Tone control module and easily accessible preamp voicing switch that can accommodate different types of amplification choices, playing styles and performance situations.

Ebony Bridge & Pins

The high density of ebony keeps the fundamental acoustic sound focused and tight with greater sonic projection than plastic, enhancing the transfer of the string vibrations throughout the soundboard top, body and the neck.

Hand-Rolled Fret Edge Treatment

The shaping and treatment of a guitar's frets have a big impact on comfort and performance. Most guitar makers simply bevel the frets at each end to eliminate the sharp edges. Boutique acoustic builders, however, use a method to dress their frets to make them round, smooth, and ultra-comfortable to touch and play. This process is highly complex and time-consuming and requires the skilled workmanship of experienced craftsmen.

Modern Black features a 25.5"(648mm) neck scale with 1 3/4"(44.5mm) nut width widely regarded as the 'golden standard' amongst fingerstyle players for its optimal string spacing and string tension.

Walnut Reinforced Neck

Using two special inserts made of more rigid walnut, the neck on the Modern Black has been reinforced for added rigidity and stability to withstand various types of fingerstyle playing.

"Why is it a b-stock?"

• We offer these out of an ever-changing open inventory of b-stock pieces at our distributor's. They don't provide specifics of the issue that caused the b-stock classification.
• B-Stock items have minor cosmetic blemishes that were discovered during the set-up and inspection process. These are strictly cosmetic and do not affect the playability of the instrument. Many times, the blemish is so small you will have a hard time finding it w/ the naked eye.
• In other cases, the b-stock status comes from the model being discontinued, and it is in brand new condition.
• B-Stock items carry a Full Mechanical Warranty, but since they are being sold as a B-Stock, they do not carry a cosmetic warranty. 
• Only instruments w/ minor cosmetic blemishes and/or discontinued are B-Stock. We will not sell instruments w/ greater issues.
