Kenny Aronoff , TAMA , John Mellencamp
Tama, Artstar II, Burgundy Transparent Lacquer. Complete 6 drum set with hardware.
Used on numerous tours and recordings including John Mellencamp’s 1993 “Human Wheels” TV special, 1991 Arsenio Hall Show and 1994 “Dance Naked” tour. Acquired directly from Kenny Aronoff in 1997. COA, bass drum logo head and snare head signed by Aronoff.
Tama Artstar II sets of this era are renown as some of the best drums Tama Tama ever made. Kenny still jokes with me that he should have never given me this set because it sounds so good.
The set remains in excellent playing condition. The lacquer finish has become cloudy in some areas. This is pretty common of Tama drums in this finish from this era. It shows some minor scuffs and scratches but nothing that will get in the way of it setting up and playing beautifully.
This is a rare complete set used by Kenny Aronoff at the peak of his 17 year tenure with the John Mellencamp band. Kenny left Mellencamp's band in 1997. His years with Mellencamp marked the beginning of his extremely prolific career that continues stronger than ever today. Kenny is widely recognized as one of the greatest drummers of our time.
Check out the video below of Kenny's latest visit to our studio where he revisits this set in our warehouse.
