***VINTAGE***
Cushmic Sounds is pleased to offer this Incredibly Cool Vintage Ampeg Dan Armstrong Lucite Guitar from 1969!
Weighing in at 4.3kg (9.4lbs) with a solid Lucite (acrylic plastic resin) body, carved from a single block, 1-piece/4-bolt Maple neck, Rosewood fretboard with 24 (medium jumbo?) frets, small dot inlays and re-shaped Original bone nut.
Original interchangeable Country & Western Bass (CB) pickup is in place, along with 2 Original CTS potentiometers and Original 'Carling' brand 3-position switch. A replacement input jack has been added along with some new wiring (Originals are in the case pocket).
Potentiometer code: 1376705
137 = CTS code
67 = Year
05 = Week
Like Gibson and Fender at the time, Ampeg had purchased a bulk load of Potentiometers amongst other parts and included them in products until supply ran out.
These Original Dan Armstrong guitars had 6 different interchangeable pickup options. These being "Rock Treble", Rock Bass", "Jazz Bass", Jazz Treble", "Country & Western Bass" and "Country & Western Treble".
Controls: 1 Master Volume, 1 Tone control., 3-position Switch.
Switching options;
Position 1 (Bridge): Master Volume, Tone Control
Position 2 (Middle): Master Volume (Tone disengaged)
Position 3 (Neck): Master Volume, Tone Control
(NOTE; With this CB pickup being a "single coil", these are the original switching options available for this particular model. As there were a variety of interchangeable pickups, more switching options would be determined by each model.
Original German made Schaller tuners are in place and fully functional.
Original Rosewood bridge is in place and has been professionally modified (some years ago) with a piece of fret wire to allow more vibration/output from the strings.
Original bridge is still in place.
Control knobs are Original.
Pickguard has been replaced (some years ago) with a "replica". Unfortunately the screw holes on this replacement pickguard aren't aligned with the holes on the body, so I have added some stainless steel washers to cover up the "dodgy" drill holes from whoever did the installation. It also doesn't line up flush with the base of the neck and unfortunately is damaged on the treble side, but it is held in place by the added washer.
Overall condition is excellent! There is play wear throughout, a few scratches here and there, someone even carved '666' on the back of the headstock...but C'mon - this is baby is over 50 years old!
Comes with a UXL brand Hard Shell Case and 2 keys.
Serviced and setup here at Cushmic Sounds with D'Addario 10-46 strings, frets cleaned and polished, fretboard cleaned and lightly oiled, intonation and action set (as good as possible), truss rod tested and works as it should, electronics cleaned, tested and working perfectly, all hardware cleaned and secured.
Non-original frets have been leveled and dressed back in November of 2017 and are in near perfect condition so playability is superb!
